Blog Inspiration for Staffing Agencies

We recently wrote about how cheap blogging services can rip you off. So, what if you don’t want to get ripped off but you can’t afford custom blog posts? Even if you’re not a writer, you can provide your followers with helpful content.

It doesn’t always come easy though. One of the most common issues we run into as content marketers is finding inspiration for fresh, original content.

Here we’ve compiled some of the methods we use to find inspiration as well as some tactics we have found to be effective for our clients.

Special Interests

The ultimate goal of your blog is to attract loyal followers, not just one time visitors. The best way to do this is to curate content that interests them. This can manifest in many forms and the finished product will depend on your industry. For those in IT, staffing topics often consist of new gadgets, fun startups, or the latest meme. Some ideas for healthcare include heartwarming stories, healthy recipes, or topics about traveling for nurses.

SIA, ASA, etc. They are great sources for inspiration and information. If you’re attending a conference, then that’s a great topic for a blog post. You can write about what you hope to get out of attending, and why it’s great for your clients/candidates. Then you can use the staffing association news as filler in-between the really fun posts.

Industry News

Finding relevant industry news for your candidates can take a lot of time. That’s why we recommend following your favorite sources on Twitter where you can easily find their most up to date content. Other microblogging websites like Reddit are also great sources for industry news.

Regional News

Along the same lines as special interests, regional news is important to locals. But how do you touch on every region you work in? Most staffing & recruiting companies work nationwide or in several cities/states spread throughout the continent. Finding regional news is pretty easy; most local outlets will have the most up to date trending stories on their home page. Here are a few good ways share regional news.

  • Featured Stories: Once a week/month feature a few stories in cities/states/regions that you do business (example: Regional Roundup – 10 Headlines That Matter).
  • Regional Showcase: Periodically showcase a city or an aspect of a city in which you do business (example: Keeping Austin Weird – Where The City’s Slogan Came From).
  • Local Events: Share a roundup of local conferences, job fairs, college graduations, etc. including industry related events if possible.

Inspire Others

Inspiration is part science, part dedication and all luck. You can’t force creativity. That’s why one of the best sources for inspiration is learning from creative and gifted people. You can do this by reading a good book by a renowned author, attending an inspirational TED talk, or practicing in writers block exercises. Once you have your idea, write it in a way that inspires others to act.
