Have you see the video of the woman that quit her job via interpretive dance on YouTube? It’s pretty interesting. Check it out below.
Aside from having some sweet dance moves, and some seriously great video content marketing, I appreciate her sentiment throughout the video. The sentiment being that she’s given a lot to her company but is tired of being driven to create videos based on quantity and metrics (like site visits) instead of quality. Being a creative agency, we feel your pain! Often, it’s frustrating working with people that use data/metrics as a tool, or even a crutch, for keeping things comfortable and creating inaction, under the guise of measuring return. It’s easy to tout things like KPI’s without realizing you’re not being innovative, progressing or worse, completely strangling your company.
That said, what do you think about how she sent that message to her boss? Sure, her leaving via interpretive dance video, posted to YouTube that is now going viral is the modern day version of ‘take this job and shove it.’ However, what do you think here of her chances at getting her next job? Would you hire her, or would you worry about the interpretive dance quit video v2.0 if things didn’t go her way?
