Location based social networking has been taking off for some time now. For some business, like restaurants, Groupon and FourSquare make a lot of sense. But how can a healthcare staffing company take advantage of location based social networking?
Last year Facebook released their version of location checkins called ‘Facebook Places.’ There are a lot of opportunities for business to make use of this feature. Including healthcare staffing companies!

Facebook Places is a mobile application for Facebook that allows your friends to see where you are by checking into a place. You can check in to physical locations and events and also tag your friends in the checkin process.
The first thing you want to do is either add or claim your company page Places. To do this, search for your business name on Facebook. If your business’s Place already exists on Facebook, click on it to visit its page. There will be a link that says “Is this your business?” Click on the link and follow the instructions to claim your page.
Facebook will then ask you to verify your claim through your phone, or you may be asked for document verification. Once your claim is confirmed, you will be able to edit your Place on Facebook.
The final step is to merge your company Place and company Facebook Page once you’ve completed the verification process. The result is a single Page which becomes your company business page with all the functionality of Places and your regular page.
How can you use Facebook Places to benefit your healthcare staffing company?
1. Promote your brand. Facebook Places gives your staffing company more ways to promote and grow your business on Facebook. By giving your clients and candidates the ability to check in at your business, you’re providing a way for them to distribute information about your company to their friend network.
3. Offer something for visits and most visits. Offer your clients discounts or your candidates other incentives for checking in to your location. You can provide additional incentives for those who check in the most.
4. Have events at your office. Hold educational talks, group networking events or even just company parties and meet ups. Consider inviting all of your traveler staff in monthly that have birthdays that month. Have a group birthday celebration and have them all check in!
5. Encourage posts and pictures. Once you have people in your office after checking in, have them post information, updates and pictures of their activities with your company.
